WINTERFUL – the winter inspired Martin Miller Gin Review
WINTERFUL is the new season limited edition gin by Martin Miller’s. The world’s most awarded super premium gin brand celebrated their 20th birthday this year by the release of their SUMERFUL and and WINTERFUL collection.
WINTERFUL is inspired by the traditional flavours of winter: cinnamon and mandarin orange. These ingredients are common in home-made mulled wine recipes in England and Iceland which is a nod to the gin’s dual heritage.
The distillation process also gives a nod to the dual heritage with English distilled gin being combined with Icelandic spring water. There’s an extra distillation of the cinnamon, orange peel, cardamom and botanicals before they are added to the Martin Miller’s Original gin. Martin Miller’s using twin distillation; first jr distils the juniper and ‘earthy’ botanicals then the citrus flavours separately before combining them. The result? A better balance between juniper and citrus that provides a silky soft feel.
With WINTERFUL Martin Miller’s has impressed again with another innovative, quality gin. The traditional scents associated with winter (and for Europe Christmas) really do create a lingering feeling of warmth, complexity and depth. It is truly a spirit that will bring tidings if comfort and joy to all who taste it. If you like mulled wine you’ll certainly like WINTERFUL gin. 
WINTERFUL can be enjoyed hot or cold. We enjoyed ours as a classic g&t, though Martin Miller’s recommends swapping the tonic for ginger beer to really give it a spiced winter flavour.
There are two recipes recipe we’re excited to try when we next go grocery shopping. One is the WINTERFUL Gin Mulled Cranbury. This is made using 50ml WINTERFUL gin, 125ml red wine, syrup or honey, juice of lemon or orange and Luxor 43. The ingredients are poured into a saucepan to simmer before serving with cinnamon and orange peel. The other is WINTERFUL GIN Flop. Comprised of WINTERFUL gin, ginger syrup, double cream and egg shaken, this is then drained into a glass and served with nutmeg and cinnamon.
WINTERFUL is a Small batch pot distilled gin. The 70cl contains 40% alcohol.
