Already fed up with the cold weather? Swap gloomy London for yoga in Spain
It’s official – summer is over.
With Britain set to get battered by heavy rain, we can kiss goodbye to al fresco meals, park workouts and garden yoga in the sun.
If the latter in particular makes you upset enough to crawl into child’s pose, we’ve got good news.
MoreYoga is offering Brits the chance to sign up to become yoga teachers… and you can take the classes in Spain.
You’ll learn how to contort your body into all manner of poses, such as downward dog, cobra and Shavanasa, and how to share the practice with others.
The course includes lessons on not only physical postures but also yoga philosophy, anatomy, breathwork and meditation, as well as diversity and inclusion.
It will be taught at the Suryalila Retreat Centre in Cádiz with a variety of course dates available from April 2025 to January 2026.
Aside from getting pretty limber, you’ll walk away with a globally-recognised certification by Yoga Alliance Professionals UK and Yoga Alliance USA.
Whether you then decide to become an expat and teach yoga abroad or return to Old Blighty… that choice is yours.
We know what we would pick.
If you don’t want to teach the practice but still enjoy yoga now and then, you can also pop into one of MoreYoga’s 30+ London locations.
Because we like to know what we’re recommending, we paid a visit to the Balham studio not long ago.
The booking process is smooth and easy – you do it through the app – and the teacher was very friendly.
As yoga lessons go, this one was pretty standard (that’s a compliment – there’s only so much you can really do at yoga) but there were some elements that stood out.
For instance, the studio doesn’t have mirrors, which was refreshing.
The group is split in two, facing each other, while the teacher is in the middle.
This means that instead of staring at your body and wondering why you can’t take the warrior pose, you can relax and focus on what you are doing (and feeling).
The teacher also opened the class by telling us that anyone who doesn’t want to receive instruction or adjustment through touch, can simply tell him.
Or use one of the small balls that are available in MoreYoga to place at your mat to signal that you do not want assistance this way.
Our muscles ached the next day but in a really good way.
Maybe we’ll give up this writing business and join the programme in Spain ourselves…
The MoreYoga programme costs £2,300 but if you get the early bird offer, which opens on 29 November, you get a slight discount at £2,150.
Accommodation isn’t included though – with prices starting from £620.
