Arthur Hoopers Review

I’m no virgin to Borough market, I’ve been there many many times, eating from some of the finest food traders around to having a sit down dining experience in a restaurant. It’s a place where it can be quick to become loyal to your favourite restaurant / food stand, which can be a shame because there is so much delicious food available to tuck into.  So when the opportunity to dine at Arthur Hoopers came up on Stoney street, overlooking Borough market, I was excited to give it a go.

Arthur Hoopers offers a range of European style small plates, the interior is very sleek and stylish, designed by Buster + Punch, an interior fashion design label, which are located nearby. With pieces or Art on the wall to admire from Matt Small and Dan Hillier. Just the place to impress a date or to treat a loved one.

We had the Lamb and bulgar meatballs, served with a rich tomato sauce, the meatballs were cooked perfectly and was very flavoursome.

We also had the harissa butter beans and charred broccoli, the broccoli had a nice crunch to it and the sauce that the harissa beans were soaked in was a perfect match. The red wine and porcini braised sausages with sage breadcrumbs was a real treat, although the dish looked small, it was a nice generous portion as small portions go. These three plates alongside some jersey royal potatoes was the right amount, sometimes you are expected to order a load of plates when sharing, but the dishes were indeed very filling.

Despite the both of us being very full, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity of having the chocolate hazelnut pot, which came with two crunchy hazelnut biscuits. The dessert was smooth, chocolatey and creamy, it was a melt in your mouth experience and catered to the yells of our sweet tooth!

Arthur Hoopers has a great buzzing atmosphere, it was continuously busy throughout the evening, which was a good indication this place is popular, so I would recommend you booking a table beforehand. Once you’re finished, end the night by seeking out a bar around the corner, there is a lot to choose from in Borough, its a great place to hang out and soak up the atmosphere on these wonderful Summer evenings we are experiencing at the moment.
