Bloom Gin Review

Bloom Gin is created by Master Distiller, Joanne Moore. It is enriched with a bespoke blend of honeysuckle, chamomile and pomelo botanicals and is a floral gin. BLOOM Gin perfect serve is  high-quality tonic, strawberries and plenty of ice.

First impressions of the bottle: The Victorian aqua jewel-cut glass bottle is stunning to look at and is very feminine in nature. It definitely looks lovely sitting in my collection. It’s a little hard to open though, so be careful when opening it – the tin around the lid can be sharp.

Bloom is quite a sweet smelling gin and it’s no suprise that its also quite floral. I didn’t get the citrus smell of the pomelo botanical and thought the chamomile overpowered that smell. The scent is very clean and lingers on the nose without appearing too strong.

Upon first taste, the citrus comes out and is quite refreshing. I found it more sweeter than the typical London Dry Gins. This is great for those that prefer less juniper flavoured gins.

Mixed with Fentimans’ Tonic Water, the gin maintains its sweetness and the honeysuckle really comes out to play. Served with strawberries – this is definitely a summer gin. Though Bloom convinced me to try their winter serves and I am a convert.

BLOOM Winter Gin & Tonic – 50ml of Bloom Gin, add Tonic Water and Garnish with fresh cranberries or fresh blackberries. Cranberries scream Christmas so this will be a drink I’ll be drinking this year. I could only find frozen cranberries while I was out shopping but I don’t think that matters. It didn’t ditract from the taste and using frozen fruit in your gin and tonic means it won’t get watered down by Ice! (#lifehack).

Next step is to get some prosecco and try The BLOOM Blackberry Fizz – 25ml BLOOM, 15ml Elderflower Cordial, topped with Prosecco – garnished with a fresh or frozen blackberry. It sounds like heaven!

Bloom Gin can be purchased at Tesco, Sainsbury’s and online. There’s also some super cute gift sets available with a really pretty gin glass. So what are you waiting for – go add Bloom to your gin collection now!
