Carluccio’s Christmas in July
“Oh I wish it could be Christmas every day”. Well on Thursday OnIn.London were able to experience Christmas in July when Carluccio’s showcased their Christmas 2017 gift guide. Mountains of panettone, chocolates, oils and gift boxes of Italian goodies on display. The trouble was knowing where to start…
A star hit was the Stelline Di Cioccolato, milk chocolate with hazelnut filling shaped in stars. They were mouth-watering deliciousness and were a hit with work colleagues with the 300g jar (for £12.95) being emptied in a very short space of time. These stars would make for great decorations on the tree or table, or for a nice Christmas gift for colleagues.
For the nut lovers, the Grocchini (carmelised hazelnut coated in dark chocolate, 200g for £9.95) and the Tarocco (hazlenuts mixed with dark chocolate, 200g for £7.95) are delicious.
My absolute favourite was the Clementine In Camicia, clementine segments coated in dark chocolate. There are three sizes available: 60g £4.95, 200g £12.95 and 300g £17.95.
A difficult choice was choosing which of the panettones were my favourite. Panettone Tradizionale(1kg £16.95) is Carluccion’s best selling Christmas product, and with the dough twice proved, iced with hazelnut glaze, baked and hung upside down to cool to get the signature dome shape, it’s not hard to see why. For the chocolate lovers, Panettone Al Gioccolato (1kg, £16.95), is a traditional panettone with milk and dark chocolate instead of the dried fruit. Carluccio’s recommends toasting this for a decadent breakfast. For the prosecco lovers, the Panettone Al Prosecco (900g £19.95) is a delicious treat, particularly if served with a glass or prosecco! This indulgent treat is made by the panettone being pierced with 25 holes to allow for the prosecco to be piped in evenly. There is also a gluten free panettone available for £12.95 (500g).
There are a number of Christmas gift items that will assist everyone with their Christmas shopping no matter the budget. One of the gifts I am looking forward to trying (hint, hint) is the Limoncello E Bicchierini. This comes with 12 chocolate cups to pour the Limoncello into, for only £19.95.
