Casa Barú UK Launch

Casa Barú has launched in UK. This premium Panamanian rum brand has its launch at Lucy Wong’s on 12th September.

Casa Barú is dedicated to producing high-quality rum using traditional methods and local ingredients. It’s produced in the heart of the Chiriqui Highlands, Panama, where the rich volcanic soil and rainforest climate provide ideal conditions to create quality spirits. Casa Barú also prides itself on sustainable and local leagues. As such, locally grown sugar cane and artisanal hand-made sugar syrup are used.  Each bottle reflects the rich landscape and craftsmanship of Panama, offering a spirit that is pure, authentic, and uniquely Panamanian.

Inspired by the traditions of Scotch whisky, Casa Barú is distilled in copper pot stills and aged in carefully selected barrels that once aged bourbon and whiskey. No artificial additives or sweeteners are used, demonstrating their commitment to purity and quality

Casa Barú’s three expressions are Blanco, Double Crop and Xopa Coffee liqueur.

Blanco is a white rum offering a blend of fruit, citrus and fresh cane notes. It’s made from artisanal sugarcane syrup and is great for creating sophisticated cocktails. We had this in a daiquiri, which had nice hints of lemon and lime. A strong, rich rum flavour but not too much of an ‘alcohol’ taste for people who prefer lighter drinks. My friend and I really enjoyed this one.

Double Crop pairs Panamanian sugarcane with Geisha coffee fruit. It’s bold, complex and aromatic. Again it’s made using local hand selected sugar cane. At the launch this was used to make an Old Fashioned. I didn’t get to try this one, but thodid said it had a good kick to it and was strong.

Xopa Coffee Liqueur is a blend of artisanal roasted local coffee and the finest Panamanian pot still spirit. Caturra coffee beans, harvested and roasted by hand in the highlands of Chiriqui, are then blended with Casa Barú to create a rich, velvety experience with coffee and caramel flavour. To highlight the expert roast, there is less sugar than other liqueurs. This liqueur caters to coffee lovers and really enhanced the  expresso martini.

Casa Barú’s three expressions offer bars and restaurants a taste of ‘the spirit of Panama’, which can be enjoyed neat or mixed in cocktails.  Currently distributed by Highball Brands, one of the UK’s leading distributors of premium spirits.
