Today Saturday 20th May is World Whisky Day so why not indulge in the delicious partnership of The Singleton whiskey and beloved east London bakery Lily Vanili.
Whiskey is an experience and all about the flavour. The Singleton 12 year old single malt scotch whisky is matured in a high proportion of American oak casks with a small portion of European oak casks to balance the liquid. This leads to notes of brown sugar, soft cooked apples and creamy toffee. It has delicious nutty, fruity, smooth and rich notes and works perfectly with sweet foods.
Lily has made a Salted Caramel and Walnut Brownie which brings out the nutty, fruity, toffee and vanilla flavour of The Singleton. It looks and sounds amazing, and it lived up to the hype. They were simply scrumptious!
We tried the Singleton Cream Soda cocktail comprised of twelve year old singleton, cream soda and an orange to garnish. A refreshing cocktail with notes of chocolate and orange.
Our favourite cocktail was the Singleton hazelnut and coffee martini. An updated version of an expresso martini it comprises The Singleton twelve years old, fresh expresso, coffee liqueur, hazelnut chocolate and orange chocolate for garnish. It gives a subtle nod to The Singleton’s nutty notes. The martini perfectly complimented the brownies. We couldn’t help but to go back for seconds.
