Bourne & Hollingsworth Presents: The Dark Circus Party – Day of the Dead Special
Bourne & Hollingsworth Presents: The Dark Circus Party – Day of the Dead Special
Prepare to be thrilled, enthralled and enraptured as the Dark Circus Party returns for a special Day of the Dead fright night on Saturday 29th October 2016. Step inside the abandoned circus and become immersed in the shadows of the bazaar as you follow the skeletal painted faces through the mesmerising carnival of horrors and stare starry-‐eyed at the enchanting aerialists as they spin from the ceiling, performing marvellous feats of death-‐defying daring.
On entering the haunted big top, guests will be submerged in a dark and thrilling world where they become part of the entertainment, literally letting them run away with the circus for a night. The party’s entertainment follows a traditional circus bill, but with a twisted Day of the Dead theme; awe inspiring aerial acts, treacherous trapeze artists and ethereal silks performances are married with traditional Mexican rituals and a Mariachi-‐lead masked death procession dancing through the festivities. Follow the trail of incense and the soft glow of candlelight, past the empty animal cages and traditional Ofrenda shrine making tribute to lost ones, and enter the sepulchral El Jimador Cantina. Quench your thirst with tequila cocktails served in sugar skulls by mysterious painted faces as the gates of heaven open and the departed are guided back to earth for an agave-‐fuelled fiesta. Tequila fans can choose to start the party early and join the El Jimador savants for a pre-‐party tequila master-‐class, learning about the history of this Mexican tipple and the crucial part it plays in time-‐ honoured Day of the Dead celebrations.
Guests can sip on delicious cocktails, dance to live bands, and marvel at the acrobats performing under the big top in an authentic Mexican boxing ring or pay a visit to the painted wagon for an iconic skeletal makeover.
Produced by Bourne & Hollingsworth, the people behind Cocktails in the City, The Blitz Party and Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings, expect beautiful and haunting set design, theatrical and diverse acts, and innovative and original cocktails. Having built a reputation for seamlessly delivering the big annual landmarks, such as New Year’s Eve, Burns Night and Valentine’s Day, guests can rest assured that their Halloween Party is in safe hands. The dress code for the evening is strict as all guests must become part of the Mexican Dark Circus troupe: think Sideshow Freaks, Queens of the Flying Trapeze, Tragic Clowns, Snake Charmers, Lion Tamers, Ring Masters, Strong Men, Corpse Brides and traditional painted skeletal faces. Anyone wearing jeans, trainers or t-‐shirts will be refused entry and fed to the lions. So pick a persona, embrace your inner voyeur and enter the carnival of curiosities for a night of abandoned dancing, breath taking performances and a magical Halloween spectacle.
