The bar at Duck and Waffle boasts incredible views of London, you go up a glass lift which whizzes you up to the 40th floor and before you even take your seat you will be bowled over by the view, looking through the floor to ceiling windows. If you’re smart and you time it right you can see the sun set over some of the most iconic buildings in London!

Other than the view, what keeps us going back to the bar at Duck and Waffle, is mainly two things, the ever changing innovative cocktail menu and the friendly and welcoming staff. Origins is the the new cocktail menu, where each drink squeezes layers of flavour from a single ingredient. Rich Woods, Head of Spirit & Cocktail Development, the brains behind the new menu explains ‘Origins takes the ideas and cornerstones of our previous menu – one step further. Not satisfied with using just leftover or wasteful produce, showcased in our previous ‘Urban Decay’ menu, I wanted to show the various levels and complexity of flavour that could be obtained from multiple elements of a single source.’

So yes you will see an avocado stone in your cocktail to a thin strip of sweet red pepper wrapped around in the inside of your glass. There is a lot of flavour in one ingredient and a lot of the times we cut away the best bits! Well not at Duck and Waffle, these guys are onto something big! last week we headed on over to sample the cocktail menu.

The Avocado aperitivo isn’t just for Avocado fans, yes the big seed sitting at the bottom of your drink may look strange but my Goodness this is high on top of the list of drinks to try. It contains a slightly sweet Bacardi Carta Blanca rum and Prosecco mix and avocado pit bitters with a frozen avocado stone at the bottom. Its a sweet cocktail which is easy to drink, so careful how quickly you sip it! When you think of avocado you may think of a green and healthy drink, well this is nothing like that it’s more of the grown up, sexy and elegant older sister!

Another highlight was the Strawberry cocktail, it’s a very fresh and fruity wine type of cocktail, it’s quite light and the ideal drink on a Summers day. The strawberries are taken from the restaurant the night before and used to make the ‘discarded strawberry cordial’ used in the cocktail.

Feeling peckish, look out for some of their tasty bar food on offer, which include crispy polenta, bbq-spiced crispy pig ears and yellowfin tuna.

Duck and Waffle is open 24 hours, so time is no issue and you wont be disappointed, you’ll be a kid at a candy store, appreciating all the flavours you taste while sipping your cocktail.
