Thai Square Putney Bridge

Seafood Platter
Putney is super cute with its trendy riverside bars and pubs, a definite recommendation especially during these long summer days. Thai Square pretty much has the prime spot in Putney, right on the riverside, south of the river just as you cross the bridge. You can’t miss it.

They have a great outdoor seating area looking out on the Thames, but also a great selection of seating indoors. A seductive wooden staircase surrounded by foliage walls creates an illusion that you are in the north Thailand forests. Great big tables, small 2 seater for those on dates and a selection of comfy booths. The entire top floor is surrounded by ceiling to floor windows, making it  the prime spot to gaze out onto the Thames river and if you are there in the evening take in those beautiful sunset views. But enough about décor let’s talk food.

Honestly this was the first time I have ever enjoyed every single dish. From the tuna amuse bouche to the coconut flan, everything was just perfect. The amazing chef Oula, previously at Blue Elephant has worked in the industry for 27 years and enjoys blending influences from various cultures to create exciting twists on classic Thai dishes. I ordered from the new executive menu which is exclusive to the Putney Bridge branch. I recommend for starters: the seafood platter but also the grilled wild tiger prawns. For mains definitely the Oriental Duck and the Beef in the Jungle, and I would recommend all three of the desserts: Lychee Mousse, Ginger Crème Brûlée, and my ultimate (biased) favourite the Coconut Flan.

If the décor and food hasn’t sold you then the cocktails WILL.  A custom menu with very interesting, quirky, and fun names which will definitely impress. The service is impeccable and one of the waitresses surprised me with my own personal cocktail called The Lover Cocktail, which was a runner up in a London competition.
