Duck and Waffle: Review

I have literally been holding back on this review because of the amazing reputation that Duck and Waffle has.

It was for this reason why I decided to take my husband there as a birthday surprise, the views from the Heron Tower are amazing and the restaurant was highly recommended to me. As soon as we walked in, we had a warm welcome, the staff and team were amazing. They catered to our every need and provided us with great drink recommendations.

I love the Duck and Waffle concept that everything is to be shared. So people can have an array of mini dishes, or choose from the individual dish list. As we were pretty hungry we decided to go for the individual dishes. Plus I fancied fish and my husband fancied steak. For our mains I ordered the Seabass and my husband ordered the steak. Our waitress suggested we try the mini battered sausages as a starter, which we did. The battered sausages were amazing, a perfect size to share with another person and ever so moreish. This made us both excited for our main.

When our mains arrived, they looked amazing! I mean amazing. Check out the photo to see how amazing they looked. So with childish excitement we tucked into our main dishes. My husbands face said it all and my face soon followed suit. It was the squint of the eyes and the disgust in our faces. Our dishes were saturated with salt. I mean big fat clumps of salt. It was awful.

Thank God for amazing waiting staff, our waitress automatically detected there was an issue, plus our faces were a dead giveaway. We immediately told her the issue as the dishes were not edible. She removed our dishes and we did not have to pay for them.

An even greater testimony to a great team, was that the Chef in charge came out and apologised to us. He had tasted the dishes and agreed they were salty. He kindly explained that it was a mistake of one of the staff. He kindly replaced our main with their signature dish of duck, waffles and maple syrup.

Let me tell you, this dish was amazing!!!!!! So delicious.

I would definitely return to Duck & Waffle. Yes we had a mini hiccup with a couple of dishes. But the staff were great and the majority of our food was great. Mistakes do happen an we can all appreciate that right?
