Get Buzzing As The Yards Launches Its Homemade Honey
If you are ever wandering around Covent Garden and hear a gentle buzzing, fear not, it’s simply The Yards rooftop honey bee hives. Located on the roof of St Martin’s Courtyard, the honey from the local bees has been collected and distributed to venues at The Yards. The venues, including Dishoom, Fair Shot Cafe and Dalla Terra, have worked the local produce into some of their dishes and drinks for a limited time only. The Yards honey menu will debut on the 2nd of October for two weeks.
The bee hives were introduced to The Yards to restore biodiversity, strengthen local ecosystems and contribute to a greener, more sustainable urban landscape in central London.
Joelle Fry, the Place & Marketing Manager at The Yards comments, “At The Yards, we believe in offering our visitors more than just a place to shop and dine; we aim to provide a truly immersive and sustainable experience and our rooftop honey, harvested from our own bees, adds the perfect touch of sweetness to our offerings.”
Dishoom Covent Garden, the Bombay-style hub for Indian street food, will be adding the honey to its House Granola. The granola is made using toasted oats, seeds, cashews, almonds, pistachios and cinnamon, served with fresh seasonal fruits, dairy vanilla yoghurt and The Yards honey.
Fair Shot Cafe, a social enterprise cafe which helps young adults with learning disabilities find jobs in hospitality, has created its honeyed almond crunches cake and honey fresh mint tea using the honey.
Dalla Terra, the Italian wine bar and restaurant, is using The Yards honey on its Italian Cheese Board, which consists of a selection of fine Italian Artisan cheese from London’s Borough Market. The board includes Parmigiano Reggiano, Toma, Blue, Truffle cow’s milk, seasonal fruits, crackers and of course the local honey.
The Yards honey has limited availability, so make sure to try it while stocks last. For more information and for the list of participating venues, head to: https://
