Jack Daniel’s Serves Up Fresh Festive Sounds
Tired of the same old holiday playlist? Jack Daniel’s hears you. This year, the iconic Tennessee whiskey brand encourages you to embrace your own traditions, by launching the Jack Daniel’s Festive Remix campaign, offering a fresh alternative to the holiday music monotony.
Love them or playfully groan at them, festive tunes are an undeniable part of the holiday season. This year, Jack Daniel’s is toasting to both the cherished classics and the desire for something new with the launch of its Jack Daniel’s Festive Remix campaign. While we all like to complain about hearing the same songs, they’ve also become anthems of the season, sparking singalongs and memories year after year.
A recent nationwide survey commissioned by Jack Daniel’s and conducted by OnePoll.com revealed over half (53%) admit to singing along to the very songs even though they find them annoying.
While some express playful fatigue Catchy choruses (44%), festive lyrics (37%), and a healthy dose of nostalgia (30%) contribute to the lasting power of these holiday hits, even the most “overplayed” holiday songs hold a special place in our hearts.
While the classics remain beloved, 65% are also interested in hearing new festive tunes, reflecting a desire for an evolving holiday soundtrack with more diversity.
In response, Jack Daniel’s, a brand with deep roots in music, is collaborating with emerging artists Lemzi and CHAR to challenge clichés and create original holiday songs across various genres. This grassroots initiative aims to encourage the nation to try something new, by capturing the authentic emotions and experiences of the holidays, moving beyond the well-worn tropes of traditional festive music, and inspiring a wave of unique holiday sounds.
Lemzi’s track offers a reflective and heartwarming take on the season, emphasising connection and resilience. His lyrics speak to the importance of supporting loved ones: “It’s the time I hope you don’t feel like you must stand alone / It’s been a heavy year and I can see you’re feeling hampered bro / It’s peace between you and me I know we’ll keep the anger low.” He also touches on the power of returning home and celebrating togetherness: “But all the roads on maps are prone to draw you right back to home / And that’s always sweet to the ear.”
Lemzi says: I’m one of those people who can be a bit bah-humbug when some of the old Christmas songs come on. Not because I hate them, but more-so because I know how many other good songs, topics or sounds are out there that could still create a dope aesthetic!
For me, this track is showcasing that there’s always a big wide world, some of it in our minds where the grass is greener, but despite this, returning to your definition of home will always mean something special”.
While Charlotte’s track captures the energy of the season with lyrics like “It might be cold out but at least / We’re gonna dance.” Her song evokes a sense of spontaneous celebration and forging new traditions with lines like, “With these winter nights unwritten / Old friends, new traditions / Letting go, we feel the rhythm / We make the rules, and leave Tinsel as we go / We’re gonna, we’re gonna And then we’re gonna dance.”
CHAR says: My favourite lyric of the song is “We make the rules and leave tinsel as we go”, it’s about being unapologetically yourself and embracing the joy of leaving a little sparkle behind you. I love forging my own path while making memories with friends, both old and new.
‘Taxis and Tinsel’ captures that feeling of anticipation and spontaneity—country with a modern dance twist. Working with Jack Daniels, such an iconic brand, to incorporate their authentic sounds into the track was unbelievably exciting. I can’t wait for people to hear it and maybe even see people trying the dance!”
Along with original lyrics, the tracks have been produced utilising a curated toolbox of signature Jack Daniel’s sounds, like ice cubes clinking in the glass which could be mistaken for sleigh bells, the satisfying pop of a whiskey cork and the low glug of amber liquid being poured – all creating a fresh but familiar soundtrack to the festive season.
“At Jack Daniel’s, we’ve always done things our own way, and the festive season is no exception,” says Eduardo Toledo, Head of Jack Daniel’s UK. “Year after year, we repeat the same traditions, but it’s important to make them personal. This season, we’re tapping into our connection to music and toasting to independent spirits. This campaign is a toast to both the time-honored traditions and the desire for something new. We hope these tracks inspire everyone to embrace the spirit of the season, whether they’re belting out a classic or discovering a new favorite.”
The Jack Daniel’s Festive Remix campaign isn’t about replacing the classics, but complementing them and giving the nation a taste of the unexpected. The campaign recognises that while many enjoy traditional holiday music (even the most disliked songs garner singalongs!), there’s a desire for new sounds that reflect the evolving spirit of the season. This initiative provides a platform for emerging artists and empowers music lovers to create a more diverse and personalised holiday soundtrack.
