Joybuy helps London commuters beat the heat and the ‘Summer Tax’ with free fan giveaway
As the mercury rises across the capital, Joybuy will be handing out thousands of free cooling fans to London commuters at some of the city’s busiest stations to help them beat the heat and avoid the hidden costs of summer.
The cool giveaway comes as new research from Joybuy reveals heatwaves are one of the biggest drivers of unplanned summer spending, with:
- 40% of Brits saying a sudden heatwave has caused them to make a last-minute purchase
- More than half (53%) noticing price hikes on seasonal products during periods of hot weather or peak summer demand
- 51% spending more money than expected during the summer months
From rushing to buy fans and cooling products to stocking up on summer essentials, Britons are increasingly facing a seasonal “Summer Tax”, with Brits set to spend £163m this summer on urgent delivery fees due to last-minute seasonal spending.
To help Londoners stay cool without reaching for their wallets, Joybuy will be distributing 6,000 free handheldcooling fans at major commuter hubs during the evening rush hour, courtesy of a Joybuy collaboration with JisuLife.
The fan giveaway is part of Joybuy’s first-ever Summer Black Friday (June 15 – June 30), launched in response to growing consumer frustration around seasonal price hikes, costly urgent delivery fees and rising summer spending.
Commuters can pick up a fan by downloading and signing up to the Joybuy app as a new user and publishing a post on social media, or by presenting a previous Joybuy order and posting a social media story if they are an existing customer.
