New Opening: Caravan heads to Covent Garden for their largest site to date

Caravan, the craft coffee and all-day dining pioneer, will open a new flagship restaurant later this year in Covent Garden.

Marking the eighth and largest site for the well-travelled all-day dining group, and following on from their opening in Canary Wharf in 2022, Caravan is set to embark on a new chapter with its latest venture, opening in one of London’s most beloved and bustling tourist destinations.

Drawing parallels with its flagship King’s Cross restaurant situated in a Grade II listed Victorian granary, Caravan’s newCovent Garden restaurant finds its home in a historic and characterful building on Drury Lane that was also formerly a grain and seed store. Spanning two floors, it is the brand’s second central London restaurant since the opening of Fitzrovia in 2018. Caravan Covent Garden will feature terrace dining wrapping around the site, a light filled lower ground floor for all day bar and dining, London’s most romantic table for two positioned in a subterranean light well, and the Green Room, their largest private hire and events space to date.

The design for Caravan Covent Garden will build on the groups signature global design aesthetic, which welcomes all in energetic, creative, warm and relaxed spaces.  Inspired by a connection to nature and the outdoor world and referencing the rich industrial heritage of the building the space will beautifully blend old and new. The Pacific coastline will be brought to life by a panoramic shopfront, flooding the restaurant in natural light, while raw, natural materials and planting will bring the coastline indoors. An oasis of New Zealand sunshine and nature in the heart of London.

The Covent Garden restaurant will be open from morning to night offering breakfast, brunch, lunch, cocktails and dinner (and everything in between!). Guests are invited to eat and drink all day from fresh, seasonal, healthy and bold-flavoured menus inspired by Caravan’s global travels. With signature dishes including jalapeno cornbread, steamed cod dumplings, and crisp chilli salt tofu; the well-travelled menu has something for everyone and makes a great choice for any occasion. Also featuring on the menu are Caravan’s craft coffee blends and hand-picked single origin coffees that are locally roasted at their North London roastery.

Laura Harper Hinton, Caravan Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer said; “We are thrilled to be heading to Covent Garden to share our passion for craft coffee, well-travelled food and memorable experiences in a new part of the city. Thirteen years after opening our first restaurant in Exmouth Market, we still strive to be a source of new, excitingflavours, fresh ideas, and authentic, friendly experiences. We’re so proud to have created restaurants that all are welcome to visit, at any time of the day, for any occasion and can’t wait to throw open the doors at Covent Garden so we can bring more New Zealand sunshine and hospitality to more of London.

Caravan Covent Garden will open in late 2023 and the official opening date will be announced later this year.
