Pizza Union Review

After an active morning taking part in a 5K Run or Dye, festival of colour I had worked up quite an appetite. The fact that I had an evening meet up at the wonderful Pizza Union sampling a selection of mouthwatering pizza could not have been more welcomed.

Pizza Union is located a stones throw from London’s Liverpool Street. You weave the trendy cobbled streets of Spitalfields that reveal a host of hidden gems and boutiques, a real prime location. The restaurant itself is spacious and offers a range of seating both inside and out.  The spectacular stone oven acts as a memorable focal point.

On the night there were three authentic highly skilled and enthusiastic  Italian Pizzaiolo’s and did they put on a show.   They entertained us with skills that would have put the most renowned NBA Players to shame using only a humble pizza base; rolling the base from one shoulder to the other and spinning the base on one finger! Please note that no pizza base was harmed during this activity and for food hygiene purposes these pizza bases were not used in the production of our final pizza masterpieces!

The menu offers a large selection to suit the fussiest of palettes (even gluten free), so much so that I had to seek the assistance of the Pizza Union Assistant Manager in making my choice.  Final selection was the vegtastic Giardino (must gesture in a typically Italian way when saying this I was informed), a combination of Tomato sauce, Mozzarella, Spinach, Mixed Peppers, Artichoke, Black Olives and Mushrooms (I added some green chillies for good measure).  It was a sight to behold, both beautiful and delicious!! The quality and the flavours were enchanting, the best part is that the most expensive pizza comes in a at only £6.50…a bargain I think you will agree.

Pizza Union does not scrimp on its desert selection either and this review would not be complete without paying homage to the ‘Dolce’; a warm dough ring filled with nutella and mascarpone #nomnomnom #foodporn.  Words cannot describe the joy experienced while consuming this heavenly delight, I would just urge you to get over to Pizza Union asap for the ‘Dolce’ experience.

This no nonsense pizza joint offers you good, healthy, speedy food on a budget while taking great care not to compromise on quality.  The staff are fun and friendly creating a great place to socialise with friends, sit and catch up on your favourite novel or even write your latest blog (complimentary wifi don’t you know!), its well worth popping in.
