Pre-Theatre Dining Menu At Theatre Royal Drury Lane

Theatre Royal Drury Lane has announced the launch of its new pre-theatre dining menu. This will be the only theatre in the West End to offer a three-course menu before heading to a West End show.

The pre-theatre dinner launch marks the return of Shakespeare to the theatre, the first time his plays have been performed since 1957. Both Tempest and Much Ado About Nothing are directed by multi award-winning produce and director Jamie Lloyd.

The Theatre Royal Drury Lane is stunning with its red carpet, statues and fine art collection.  The Grand Saloon, where the dinner will occur, is a simply breathtaking. Every time I go I’m in awe of my surroundings.  I’ve been to the Afternoon Tea and the Festive Afternoon Tea previously here (see our prior reviews), but this pre-theatre dinner launch will be the first time the space has opened for evening dining.

The carefully curated three course menu features thoughtfully crafted seasonal British dishes with contemporary finesse and offers a wide selection of choices per course. There’s four starters, four mains and four desserts to choose from. Starters include smoked salmon with horseradish cream, capers and rye bread, or a pork terrine with brandy cherries, cornichons and sourdough bread.

Main dishes offer hearty meals perfect for a winter evening including Ox cheek bourguignon served with pickled onions, carrots, watercress and mashed potato, or the classic British fish pie with salmon, smoked haddock, pollock and a brioche crumb. Vegan and vegetarian options are a Jerusalem artichoke risotto and parsnip soup. For dessert the choices include  an artful Black Forest coupe and sticky toffee pudding. The pre-theatre dining menu is perfect if you’re going to see one of the Shakespeare performances, or whether just looking for a bite to eat in the Covent Garden area.

The pre-theatre 3 course menu is priced at £49.50 per person. There is limited availability with 2 sittings per show.

The Tempest starring Sigourney Weaver performs from  7 December – 1 February 2025 while Much Ado About Nothing starring Tom Hiddleston and Hayley Atwell performs from 10 Feb – 5 April 2025.
