Q&A with Alexandra Livesey, Chief Operating Officer of Clockwise

Q: Could you tell us about Clockwise?

A: Clockwise wasfounded in 2017 and provides contemporary private offices, shared workspace and meeting rooms with flexible membership plans in key business locations across the UK and Europe. Since opening our first building in Glasgow, Clockwise has grown substantially and now has locations up and down the UK, and in mainland Europe with many more openings in the pipeline.

Clockwise is more than just a workspace provider; we’re a community-driven organisation dedicated to empowering individuals and businesses to thrive. Our mission is to create flexible, inspiring workspaces that foster collaboration, productivity, and wellbeing.

Q: What sets Clockwise apart from other workspace providers?

A: At Clockwise, we prioritise flexibility, design, and community. Our spaces are thoughtfully designed to inspire creativity and productivity, with flexible terms that cater to the evolving needs of modern businesses. We believe in the power of networks and provide opportunities for collaboration through the design of our spaces but also our events programme. At the end of last year we also launched the first office space in the metaverse, the Clockwise Campus, catapulting the office industry into the new age. The Clockwise Campus is heavily influenced by Clockwise’s physical offices and provides a digital platform for its members and the public to connect, collaborate and interact in various spaces including; meeting rooms, dedicated desks, breakout spaces, call zones and a contemplation room. The amphitheatre space is home to a series of programming with industry experts and thought leaders across Clockwise’s three events pillars; Social, Wellbeing, and Professional and Personal Development; hosting up to 50 guests at a time.

Q: Sounds really interesting, what kind of events are taking place in there at the moment?

A: Currently we have a range of events from panel discussions and interactive workshops to fireside chats. From industry pioneers and inspirational figures that provoke insightful discussion; the Clockwise Campus has welcomed names such as TV Presenter and Metaverse expert, Luke Franks, LGBTQ+ author Jason Okundaye and influencer and author, Oenone Forbat.
Q: How does Clockwise support the well-being of its members?
A: We understand that well-being is essential for success, which is why we prioritise creating environments that promote health and happiness. This is much more than ergonomic furniture, though we do have that, it’s looking at prioritising natural day light, lots of planting and greenery, wellness programs and on-site amenities, we’re committed to supporting the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of our members.

Q: With the rise of remote work, how does Clockwise adapt to the changing needs of its members?

A: Remote work has indeed transformed the way people approach work, and more and more we’re seeing a hybrid format working better for businesses and their people. We embrace this shift by offering flexible solutions that accommodate various workstyles. Whether our members need a quiet space to focus, a collaborative environment to brainstorm ideas, or simply a change of scenery, we provide the flexibility and resources they need to thrive, both in-person and virtually. We also have our newest concept Powered By Clockwise providing a bespoke management service as an enhancement to a traditional lease. This was in response to changing needs of our members and it provides ongoing and proactive support coordinating all elements of project design and dedicated office management all covered by one monthly fee.
