REVIEW: FOLEY’S TASTING KITCHEN

It was great to see Little Feast pop up in Shepherd’s Bush, last December, it caused a lot of excitement amongst those living in West London. Finally a cool foodie pop-up market to eat and socialise in, in the evenings, and then before you knew it, it was gone. Then Market Yard popped up in the same spot last month, hosting Foley’s Tasting Kitchen, and yes all hails of ‘Halleluiah’ could be heard again.

So yes we hot-footed on down to get a taster of what to expect at their new restaurant to be, in Fitzrovia. They created an eclectic menu, which certainly took my fancy! All dishes are cooked over a charcoal and wood fire within Market Yard’s outdoor seating area, although you can opt for the indoor seating which we did.

The menu is split into ‘Bits and Bobs’ and ‘Plates’, we were advised to have three dishes per person. The menu listed such delicious dishes it was easy to choose from. We picked the Spiced sweet potato fritters, which came with grilled pineapple, jalapeno yogurt and saffron coconut curry. A combination that was bursting with flavour and spice, this went down well with the Cornflake crusted chicken, which I couldn’t stop raving about, tender chicken with a crust to die for, certainly something new and different I hadn’t tasted before.

We also choose Pork belly, which was marinated beautifully: tamarind barbeque, apple, green papaya, cured red onions and toasted cashews. For the fish lovers you can opt for the Cod, which came with a coriander, fennel, lentil and tamarind broth along with crispy chickpeas, okra and kale. These are dishes for those that love trying new and different dishes, with entails a lot of ingredient combinations.

We just about squeezed dessert in and went for the ‘Fat boy Elvis’ – warm chocolate chip banana cake, it arrived in small dainty squares, which we nibbled on, and certainly a winner in my books.

The Foley’s Tasting Kitchen is only on until 20th March so don’t miss out, there isn’t long to go! Don’t say we didn’t warn you…
