Review: JW Steakhouse at the Grosvenor House Hotel

Heading over to JW Steakhouse at the Grosvenor House Hotel was a real treat, not only are we huge fans of steak but the hype around how great their steak is, really got our attention.

We wanted to go light for starters, so we opted for the smoked salmon and the fried calamari, accompanied with the old bay tartar sauce. The calamari was fried to perfection, with the salmon, tasting fresh and light, both starters were of a very pleasant generous size.

For the mains we ordered the Aberdeen Angus Rib Eye (14oz) and the Seared Tuna Steak au Poivre with the roasted vegetables and buttery mash as sides to share.

We were happy with the beef coming under the label ‘Butcher’s British cuts’, superior quality grass fed Aberdeen Angus beef, where the waiter went into details of the benefits of grass fed Aberdeen Angus beef.  Once the steak was delivered the waiter waited until it was cut to ensure the steak was cooked to our satisfaction (medium to well). Such care and attention to detail in our response felt very reassuring that they indeed wanted to cook the steak to our upmost satisfaction. We are happy to report they certainly passed the test.

The beef was thick and tender and you could really taste the quality in the meat, it was well seasoned and honestly, goes down in the books as one of the best steaks in London! Which may also have to do with the way they cook it, seared under a 650 degree grill (broiler).  The tuna steak again cooked superbly, it tasted fresh and just so tender, so much so it was almost a melt in your mouth experience.

We enjoyed the Cloudy Bay, Sauvignon Blanc and the Rutini, Malbec while  waiting a while for our food to digest, before we ventured into tasting desert. For desert we chose the warm brownie pudding and Vanilla Ice cream and the Strawberry Sundae, both incredibly flavorsome and just the perfect two deserts to end an incredible dining experience.

The service was impeccable, we felt very looked after and was checked on from time to time to see if we were enjoying our meal, the staff were very attentive and welcoming, just what you would want from a restaurant.

JW Steakhouse is situated on the ground floor of the Grosvenor House Hotel, which has a beautiful outdoor seating area to it as well, where you can fine dine whilst soaking up the sun, which we are very fortunate to have at the moment!

A lover of steak and fine dinning? JW Steakhouse is the place to be!
