Bounce Opens at Battersea
Ping Pong, pizzas and cocktails. What’s not to love?
London’s home of Pong Pong Bounce has launched their latest venue at Battersea Power Station. It combines Bounce’s signature playful vibe combined with the latest technology. With 12 ping pong tables, two shuffleboards and two Beer Pong tables there’s plenty of fun for everyone. It was our first time trying shuffleboard and it was so much fun trying to work out exactly how much force to use to score points and knock the opponent’s puck off the table. We became transfixed and all agreed we’d love to play this again.
We also tried our hand at Wonderball, a high tech digital platform where you can power up your play with multiple games including ping pong with automatic scoring. This was fun to try but very busy with the projections making it a little difficult to actually concentrate and play. We got very competitive in the Ping Pong tournaments led by the Games Gurus and tied to ‘Beat the Robot’. It was a very fun, social atmosphere and the staff were friendly and encouraging.
Bounce’s bar team serve a cocktail list created in collaboration with the award-winning London mixologists from Three Sheets. The gin-based Powerfizz was very light whilst the expresso martinis energised us. We also had the delicious margarita picante – a classic margarita with a spicy kick. Sipping a glass of NV Prosecco in one hand whilst playing Pong Pong was a perfect way to end the day.
The food menu is made for sharing and to be eaten with one hand whilst having a bat in the other. Think crisp garlic sourdough strips with dips (bbq and jalapeño mayo), and delicious buttermilk fried chicken with sriracha mayo and fries. There’s 8 fresh Sourdough pizzas on offer including my favourite- Hawaiian. We tried the Margherita and spicy beef (pulled beef, jalapeños, fior di latte mozzarella, chipotle tomato). Both were very tasty and the latter had a nice kick to it.
The 300-person capacity venue has a number of games available:
- Ping Pong (from £6PP).
- Wonderball (from £6PP) uses lights, graphics and ball-tracking technology to project your choice of game onto the table.
- Beer Pong (from £6PP). If your ball lands in their cup, they drink, and if it lands in yours, you drink.
- Shuffleboard (from £6PP) is a table-sized game of curling.
- Shuffle Rebound (from £6PP) is a new version of Shuffleboard where the puck shoots back down towards the player.
Wood panelling, a tiled bar, windows and contemporary art prints make it a very different style to the other Bounce venues with more of an industrial feel. The music added to the atmosphere.
Bounce is perfect for a team-building experience, hanging with friends, a date or for a quick game after shopping and eating at the various venues in the recently refurbished Battersea Power Station. We had an absolute ball!
Bounce is open 7 days a week. To celebrate the opening, lucky batters can bag a free sourdough pizza for their visit by joining the Bounce mailing list before 30 September (Monday to Friday only).
