Rooftop Book Club

For avid bookworms and BookTok fanatics, Bussey Rooftop Bar will be hosting the first ever Rooftop Book Club with author and podcast host Beth McColl. Beth will be leading a discussion around the gripping crime thriller Gone Girl, written by Gillian Flynn, which will then be followed by the screening of the movie adaptation at Rooftop Film Club. Tickets are just £32 and include the book club, screening to the movie, a drink from Bussey Rooftop Bar, and a goodie bag. Perfect for book-fans to attend on their own to meet like-minded  folk, or with a friend that’s also a Gillian Flynn fan, the exclusive event is first-come-first-served, so book lovers need to be quick!

Cuffing Season

This cuffing season, catch a movie, not feelings. Couples, or singletons looking to dive into a bucket of popcorn, can cosy up under the waterproof blankets and enjoy a fan favourite rom-com. Laugh and cry at 10 Things I Hate About You (18 September, Peckham; 10 and 12 September, Stratford), ‘have the time of your life’ watching Dirty Dancing (3rd September, Peckham; 14 September, Stratford), or swoon over other classics such as When Harry Met Sally… (5 September, Peckham; 15 September, Stratford), Romeo + Juliet (8 September, Peckham; 6 September, Stratford), and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (12 September, Peckham; 25 September, Stratford).

Freaky Fridays

Everyone’s buzzing about Freaky Friday but this one’s for the horror fans, sorry Lindsay… Those looking to get a fright can head up to the rooftop for a nail-biting selection of horrors. With A Quiet Place: Day One (17 September, Peckham; 6 and 10 September, Stratford), Trap (12 and 15 September, Peckham) and newly released flicks The Crow (20 and 26 September, Peckham and Maxxxine (10 September, Peckham), there’ll be no judgement if you’re caught hiding under the blankets…

The Kids Are Alright

Celebrate the end of the summer holidays with a movie that’ll be loved by the whole family. Top picks include The Garfield Movie (8 September, Peckham; 7 September, Stratford), Despicable Me 4 (28 September, Peckham; 21 September, Stratford) and The Greatest Showman (21 September, Peckham; 15 September, Stratford). With kids’ tickets at just £5.95, and kids’ food and drink packages available, it’s the perfect way to end the holiday season.

British Airways Presents: Destination Movies

British Airways is bringing the in-flight entertainment experience to the ground. Let British Airways whisk you away to some of its most popular short-haul destinations from London Gatwick and London City Airport, through the big screen. If you are dreaming of an Italian summer, watch Romeo + Juliet (8 September, Peckham) or alternatively Mamma Mia! For a Greek romance (7 September, Peckham). Plus, guests have the chance to win a pair of British Airways Euro Traveller flights at each screening.

In addition to this, every day of the Rooftop Film Club season, two lucky winners (per venue), will be selected at random to receive an exclusive cinema ticket upgrade. Winners will receive a boarding pass granting them an upgrade from standard seating to super comfy luxe seats, resulting in a prime viewing spot. They’ll also receive bottomless popcorn and a bottle of Prosecco to share, making sure the night is off to a flying start – all thanks to British Airways.

Britney vs Justin Silent Disco

Grab your headset and red latex, it’s time to hit the roof one more time. Fans of the pop princess can dance the night away to Britney Spears as well as Justin Timberlake’s top hits at Rooftop Film Club, Peckham, on 21 September for the ultimate ‘Britney Bitch’ themed silent disco, courtesy of legendary party engineers House of Dinosaur. Get ready to dance ‘till the world ends (or preferably just until closing).

Peckham Festival

In conjunction with the annual Peckham Festival The Block Party, Rooftop Film Club will be teaming up with the New Black Film Collective, a London organisation that spotlights and supports Black excellence in the screen industries, to further amplify conversations around the future of Peckham for all. As part of the film line up, Bob Marley: One Love and American Fiction will be screened on 14 September. There will also be other fun activations for guests to get involved with at Bussey Rooftop.

Food and Drink

At Peckham, Bussey Rooftop Bar offers the perfect views for sundowners with mouthwatering classic cocktails and mocktails, to beer and wine. Share A Slice pizza will also be on hand to serve up delicious, socially-good Neapolitan pizza along with antipasti, sides and scrumptious desserts, all also available to have delivered straight to your comfy cinema seat for a mid-movie treat. With a covered rooftop, it’s the perfect spot to take in the spectacular city views come rain or shine.

Roof East in Stratford, London’s favourite adult playground, also offers a delectable array of food and drink including Cheeky Burger, Piddaji’s traditional Turkish fare with flair; and Chick’n’Sours’ drool-worthy fried chicken.

With waterproof blankets and tickets able to be transferred to another date at no extra charge, guests will be able to enjoy the experience no matter if the Great British summer gives us rain or shine.  Tickets start at £12.95 for adults and £5.95 for kids.
