Spectacular Service and Haircare Knowledge at Rush, Balham

London’s popular salon destination is a must-visit for a pre-festive season hair refresh

If you live in the South West of England, or London, chances are there’s a Rush hair salon near you! Famed for its navy-blue façade and team of professional stylists, the salon is easy to access and offers a plethora of services to get your hair looking its best in no time.

If you, like me, have neglected your hair a little lately, this is your sign to get booked in. Settle in with a book and a coffee and prepare to be pampered and refreshed, leaving feeling like a new man or woman.

I visited the Balham location, mainly as its local to me, but I had my pick of salons to choose from within London, which is always a nice-to-have. With so many London salons to choose from, I felt safe and secure in my choice of Rush. With all my family members being hairdressers themselves, it’s very rare I get the full luxurious salon experience, so safe to say, I was very much looking forward to it.

To start, I had a consultation with my stylist who recommended a small trim as I hadn’t had my hair cut in over a year, and a bit of shaping around the face to accentuate my features. As well as a colour refresh. Stepping into my thirties recently, I’ve certainly noticed my fair share of greys peeking through. The colour would give me the refresh and confidence I needed, and would last from 6-12 weeks, which sounded fantastic to me.

We kicked off with the colour. My stylist helpfully talked me through the options and the differences in benefit to permanent colours, vs semi-permanent and we eventually decided on a rich autumnal brown in semi-permanent, which would ensure my hair keeps a certain level of shine and glossiness.

The treatment was fast thorough, and I was soon left to relax and read my book, before being guided to the sinks for a through wash and rinse out. This was also accompanied by a lovely 10-minute head massage which was the real highlight. I was then guided back to the chair for my cut – just a trim to ensure it stays healthy and got rid of any split ends or fuzz.

During my cut, my stylist was informative and spoke to me about the products I use, making friendly and helpful recommendations of switches to make that were suitable for my hair type. He spoke me through the product range they had in-store and the types of hair it was good for. The session was very informative and not pushy, he didn’t want me to buy anything and was simply passionate about good hair care and products.

To finish, I had a glorious blow-dry and we settled on some loose waves to set me up for the day. My hair is very fine naturally, but that day I left the salon with a rich colour and a bounce and shine I hadn’t quite experienced before. This salon is great, and I will definitely be back again to see the lovely team!
