The Cardinal Bar and Kitchen Review

The Cardinal Bar and Kitchen, at HotelSaint located in the very heart of The Square Mile at the crossroads of The City and Shoreditch opens in spring and I had the pleasure of visiting during the summer.

The gorgeous space is welcoming with Banquette seating, wooden flooring and light fittings creating a warm and inviting ambiance. We chose to si out in the terrace to make the most of the London summer weather. Here we could people watch and really soak up the atmosphere.

The menus at The Cardinal Bar and Kitchen will incorporate a wide range of British classics spanning across breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner.

My dad went for the scotch eggs and my mum and I shared the chicken wings which were beautifully flavoured and cooked to perfection. My dad was transported back to his childhood with the scotch egg and his aunt’s kitchen which made him very happy.

For mains, I went with the Roast Beef Sandwhich which was pretty great to be honest. My dad ‘s mussels though were the show stopper of the evening and the portion size was huge. So of course we were all happy to share. Mum’s Roast chicken was also a huge hit.

We were very full at this stage, but our lovely host surprised us with a Basque Cheesecake, which my dad really enjoyed. It was a little cinnamon flavoured for my liking but was cooked to perfection. Their sticky toffee pudding will be my next choice when I visit for sure!

There is a dedicated  bar which serves a comprehensive list of cocktails, wine and beer. Options on the cocktail list will including old school classics. Their aperol spritz was top notch!

Set in the heart of London’s financial district, The Cardinal Bar and Kitchen will evoke a spirit of comfort for those staying at the hotel or just visiting to dine, offering a ‘home away from home’ for guests.
