Silent Pool Gin Pop-Up Review

It’s no secret since moving to London that I’ve developed a love for Gin and that Silent Pool Gin is definitely one of my favourites. So when I was invited along to the Press Launch for the new Silent Pool Gin Pop-Up at The Hoxton’s indoor garden, I was instantly excited.

Walking into The Hoxton, it’s not hard to see that designers have taken inspiration from Silent Pool Gin’s beautiful blue bottle and turned the room into a life-size bottle. The effect is stunning and it was the perfect location to start consuming the cocktails that Ian Goodman of Darkhorse has created in collaboration with Master Distiller Cory Mason.

We tried four of the cocktails on the menu, Pear & Cardamom Fizz (£10), the Albury Flip (£10), the G&T (£5 Single £8 Double) and the Blackberry Shrub (£10). We loved the twist on the classic G&T’s as the added absinthe gave this drink that extra something special and had a lovely aniseed aftertaste that lingered pleasantly on the tongue. The Albury Flip was Christmas in a cup but not my favourite of the drinks. My friends loved it though and ordered another round to prove how much. Both the Pear and Cardamom Fizz and the Blackberry Shrub were perfectly refreshing, full of flavour and just so easy to drink.

We didn’t get to try the Surrey Snapper, (£5 Single £8 Double). A gin-based Red Snapper drink but it did sound an interesting mix of tomato juice blended with savoury anchovies, garlic and a peppery hint of coriander leaves with a hit of Tabasco.

The Hoxton collaboration with Silent Pool are also including a series of brunches, where diners can tuck into the brand new Silent Pool, and will get the opportunity to sample Silent Pool’s very own newly-launched gin-infused salmon. Guests staying at the Hoxton at any point throughout the run will also be gifted a complementary tipple to enjoy during their visit.

So make sure you head down to the Hoxton Hotel before the 30th of October to experience some gorgeous cocktails and an exciting new brunch in one of the most beautiful venues that I’ve seen this year. It truly is a shame that this pop up isn’t being run longer because the cocktails are delicious and the venue is truly a masterpiece. Fingers crossed Silent Pool and The Hoxton collaborate again in the near future.
