Simply Fish: Shoreditch Boxpark

Simply Fish

On Monday I had an awful day, so awful that all I wanted to do was crawl under the covers and cry a lot! The last thing I wanted was to go out and have dinner, but a great friend told me to look on the bright side of things and convinced me going out was a great idea.

We ended up at Shoreditch Boxpark. I love Shoreditch; it is one of my favourite hangout spots in London and I was pretty chuffed that my dreary Monday was going to be spent there. If I knew that my evening would end up with me dancing to Candy with the coolest restaurant manager this side of London, eating amazing food and laughing non-stop in an awesome atmosphere then I would have woken up way chirpier.

I don’t know if you have been to Boxpark but it’s basically storage units transformed into some of Londons trendiest bars, shops and restaurants. Our destination was Simply Fish and what a destination it was. Simply Fish can be found located at Units 42-43 in Boxpark, it’s the coolest venue I have been to in a while and even has an outdoor area which looked perfect for some summer cocktails.

On arrival we were met by some of the best dressed staff I have seen in ages, I was not even sure if they worked there, but the friendly demeanour and the welcomes made me realise that they were indeed our hosts for tonight. I do not normally write about Managers but I have to write about Batou (sorry if I spelt it wrong). He was the friendliest human being ever and even gave us a breakdown of Shoreditch and why he loves the area. As I said previosuly after dinner I challenged him to a Candy dance off (trendy line dancing for those who do not know). Batou was right there with me and I would like to say I won. The staff team really made my night. They were so attentive and we laughed continuously with them. You are in for a winning night if you go just for this

Do not be fooled the staff were not the only amazing part of our night. The food was AMAZING!!! I am a lover of fish and Simply Fish has the most amazing concept, basically you; chose the type of fish you want, how you want it cooked, your sauce and sides. Jump on the website and play with the menu!

I asked my new mate Batou to order for me as I love fish and would eat anything, plus he knows the menu better than we did. Our starters were salt and chilli squid and sizzling prawns. The starters were fantastic, so great that my friend and I tussled over who would get the last prawn and piece of squid.

For mains I had Jerk Sea bass with rice, sweet potato fries and mango salsa. I love a bit of spice and this dish was definitely created for me. I am sure Batou was psychoanalysing me as he got it spot on. The fish was amazing, sea bass is one of my favourite types of fish and people get it wrong all the time, but SimplyFish nailed it. My friend ate Japanese salmon with Jasmine rice, and  his dish was lush. It had some hints of spice in it and I have never seen a human being clear his plate so quickly. He spent the whole meal just saying I really needed this. Goes to show what great food can do right?

See the thumbnails below for what our dishes look like.

If you want a meal with great food, vibes and great staff I recommend heading down to Simply Fish. They have another branch in Camden and it is well worth getting down there. They also deliver, so you can sample their tasty dishes from the comfort of your home or office.

Click the link and find the closest branch to you, of course you will find me hanging out in Shoreditch.
