Skylight Rooftop Bar Review

When you think of summer in London, you think picnic in the park, festival season and… rooftop bars, of course! Skylight at Tobacco Dock has reopened for the summer and On In had the privilege to try it out. Tobacco Dock may be far out, but it’s one of the hippest hangouts in town, and Skylight surely makes it worth the trek. The two-storey bar sits atop a car park and feels a bit surreal as you enter, then emerge to a gorgeous view over the city. All summer, the venue is abuzz with people enjoying a craft cocktail or some delicious street food, and maybe signing up for a game or two (Skylight offers croquet and pétanque from May to September).

The bar menu revisits some classic cocktails, as well as offering a selection of beers, wines and bubbles, while hungry patrons can feast on burgers, gyros or sweet potato fries. We tried two sorts of colourful mojitos, a halloumi gyro, a cauliflower gyro and gyro fries from the Yiro stand, and it all very much lived up to expectations. The atmosphere of the whole place ties the experience together, for a really fun and laid-back evening out.

Can’t make it this season? Fear not, because in the next few months Skylight will adapt for all your autumn and winter rooftop needs — from Oktoberfest vibes to ice rink magic!
