South Place Hotel Review

Ever just wanted to get escape London, but don’t want to leave the city? Well look no further than the decadent South Place Hotel. Last weekend, a friend and I were treated to a luxury Staycation which helped us fully recharge and indulge in the best way possible.

Arriving at 4.30pm, I was shown up to my room on the 5th floor. The gorgeous rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows, full length mirrors, a super king-size bed, extensive wardrobes, a work desk with media hub, marble bathrooms feature deep bathtubs (big enough for two) and a shower. Not to mention a fully stocked mini bar (They have couples packages if you’re after a fun weekend with your partner or if you over indulge the night before… hangover cures) or my favourite feature.. the electric blackout blinds! I left wanting a set in my own house – they were great for making it pitch black inside, which is just the way I like to sleep.

After getting settled, my friend and I went downstairs for an amazing meal at the South Place Chop House. We can recommend having the Crispy Squid, the Chop House Salad and Dorset Crab Cakes for starters. Each starter was delicious washed down with a delightful South Place cocktail.

Our mains consisted of Lamb Cutlets and the Goosnargh Chicken Kiev. While my friend found the Lamb Cutlets a little dry, they didn’t last long on her plate and I absolutely adored my Chicken Kiev. It was so flavoursome with the Truffle creamed potato & red wine sauce that I could have asked for seconds if we didn’t have desserts coming.

The chef sent over a selection of three desserts (Sticky Toffee Pudding, Fruits Of The Forest Pavlova and a Tiramisu mousse cake). The Sticky Toffee Pudding was our favourite out of the three and we loved every bite. It was the perfect decedent end to our feast.

We took our left over wine upstairs to our room where the general manager of South Place Hotel had sent us a bottle of Moët & Chandon to welcome us to the hotel. South Place really does know how to treat their guests right.

The entire stay was an absolute dream come true and we can’t thank the South Place Hotel for having us for the night. Both my friend and I slept like babies, with my friend wondering how she could smuggle the bed out of the hotel room. It’s no surprise, South Place Hotel use the same mattresses that the Queen uses. The St Clement’s bathroom amenities by James Heeley are also simply amazing.

Breakfast in the Chop House the next morning was just as special, so it’s no surprise we didn’t want to leave. We made use of the last night

Prices range from £200 for the weekend and from £320 for weekdays. So what are you waiting for? Book your staycation now as South Place Hotel certainly has all your needs covered.
