All Star Lane’s Valentines Day Menu Review

SHARE THE LOVE AT ALL STAR LANE

Normally, a bowling place would not be my first choice for a good Sunday lunch before a round of bowling with mates or on a date. But I was very pleasantly surprised by All Star Lane at Westfield Stratford. The customer service, food, drinks and ambience made it an experience worth repeating.

For a Sunday it was busy with both adults and children, but this was understandable as it was the Sunday before half-term. Somehow All Star Lane has managed to create a buzzing family-friendly restaurant where parents and kids, couples and friends can have fun on a day or night out.

To celebrate the month of love from 5th February until the end of the month, All Star Lanes have an indulgent ‘Mate or Date’ food and drink valentine sharing menu on offer. It is likely many, like us, were trying it out.

My mate and I opted for an indulgent mac ‘n’ cheese with lobster tails and crayfish served with a fresh tomato salad and chargrilled corn at £17pp. We added sweet potato fries – because everyone needs sweet potato fries in their lives – and a small mac & cheese served with salad for my friend’s five-year old.

The waitress suggested drinks from the valentine ‘Mate or Date’ sharing menu. It would have been dishonourable of me to say no to celebrating love so I opted for the aptly named ‘Love Potion’ – a sweet and sour treat with Finlandia vodka, raspberry purée, apple and lemon juice with a hint of passion fruit. My mate chose a glass of Prosecco and a small glass of apple juice for the little one.

My ‘Love Potion’ was the size of a little fish bowl. Perfect cocktail for sharing with your special someone for only £15. I shared mine with my mate. It was semi-sweet with the right balance of sour, which I quite enjoyed and would definitely recommend.

When our meal arrived, beautifully presented, it became clear that we should have brought a third adult to join the lobster and crayfish mac ’n’ cheese feast. It was delicious, although we were unable to finish it all. We needed to leave room for the S’mores Fondue dessert, also from the sharing menu, which my niece and I devoured. Toasted marshmallows in crushed biscuits and delectable dark chocolate dipping sauce. At £8 it was a treat. What was really sweet about the dessert is that All Star Lanes are donating 50p from the sale of every S’mores Fondue to children’s charity, Rainbow Trust. Had I not been watching my blood chocolate levels I would have ordered a second helping.

I was too stuffed for an after-dinner coffee. My friend had a cappuccino with a complimentary soft dark chocolate & digestive truffle.

We finished our afternoon off with a fun round of boutique bowling, which kept us all perked up because we were ready for a nap after our sumptuous lunch.

Overall, we enjoyed the whole experience. The ambience was great, the food was delicious and the customer services was impeccable. Will definitely do it again before the month ends.
