STK London Review

One of my friends recently said to me ‘everyone has to have a meal at STK London, at least once in their lives… my friend though, she celebrates her birthday their every year’. After spending a delightful evening there on the 9th November 2018 I can definitely see why.

I’ve visited STK for cocktails before so knew I wanted to order the Soft Shelled Crab Sliders again. They’re the perfect amount of succulent juicy crab with a wasabi tasting sauce that is incredibly moreish. My friend chose Seared Citrus Cured Scallops with Asian Noodle, Mango and Peanut Salad with Yuzu Soy Dressing. It was a serious case of food envy when these arrived, but luckily we’d already agreed to split our starters. My friend hasn’t stopped talking about these scallops since we devoured them, so it’s safe to say our meal was off to a great start.

For mains, there was no other choice but steak, my friend chose the fillet with peppercorn sauce and I was recommended the rib eye with garlic butter. Both our steaks were cooked exactly the way we requested, which given we requested completely opposite ends of the steak spectrum (medium well vs medium rare) is a compliment to the chefs. We chose the truffle mac and cheese and fries for our sides. The truffle in the mac and cheese was a tad overpowering, however, it didn’t stop me eating as much as I could before needing to stop to fit in dessert.

Now dessert was a masterpiece. We were extremely tempted by everything on the menu, though opted to go with the sharing dessert platter. Perfectly handcrafted marshmallows, a gorgeous macaron, a delightful lemon meringue pie, a super sweet pecan pie, a decadent brownie and delicous candy floss. It was the perfect end to the meal. These dessert platters come in various different sizes, so whatever the size of your dinner party… there is plenty for everyone to enjoy.

We enjoyed the house white throughout our dinner and can say it probably is one of the best house whites I’ve had the pleasure of drinking. It was a Portuguese Wine by the name of Quinta do Crasto Douro White. Definitely might be a bottle I’ll be stocking up on at my house.

Service was impeccable throughout our meal and it was a great pleasure to see this same service being given to every diner in the restaurant. You will certainly be treated like royalty whilst you dine here.
