This gem has been serving the best Sri Lankan dishes for a while and is a favourite amongst Londoners in the know.
Machan Kitchen has a gorgeous tiki-style bar and a kitchen headed by Chef Roshan Ratnayaka. It has been quietly growing a cult following and counts Executive Chef at The Dorchester, Mario Perera, as a regular.
On the menu are classic Sri Lankan chicken, meat, fish and seafood dishes along with string hoppers, coconut roti or any number of rice dishes. Also find iconic Sri Lankan street foods such as isso vade and kothu roti. Vegans can rejoice at the sheer number of delicious dishes on the menu: banana blossom curry, jackfruit, spinach and coconut mallung, coconut sambol are just a few.
Desserts range from Sri Lankan classic steamed pudding watalappan to hot and cold desserts.
If it’s a lovely tropical tipple you’re after, the bar serves Sri Lankan Arrack cocktails, Colombo 7 gin and Lion Lager – all of which you’d be familiar with if you’ve ever visited Sri Lanka. There is also an array of wines and spirits to choose from.
