Bottles & Battles Review

For those who aren’t aware, Mercato Metroplotano In Elephant And Castle and it’s a paradise for food lovers. We were invited down to Bottles & Battles which is situated in the venue and couldn’t have been more impressed, not only the wine but the delicious pasta dishes we sampled.

Established in 2016 by Italian food & wine aficionados Franco Mancini, this intimate bar offers a huge range of Italian and worldwide wines as well as fabulous traditional Italian small plates. We were welcomed with a glass of wine and then had the hard task of what pasta to try.

While the menu is small, everything offered sounded amazing. I’m the end we went for the classic Rigatoni alla Carbonara and the interesting sounding Tagliatelle with Courgette, Burrata cheese and Truffle.

My friend and I were extremely happy with our choices. My Tagliatelle was extremely moreish and I was tempted to ask for another serving, my waist line thought better of it though. The Carbonara was equally as good and the saltiness of the pancetta complimented the sauce perfectly.

The wine, our helpful hosts helped us choose was equally fantastic. And it’s great that you can purchase bottles to take home if you find one that you enjoy.

With regular wine tasting events on offer as well, Bottles & Battles is a relaxed environment for a chilled Saturday Lunch. It would also be perfect for first dates as the cosiness and dimly lit room provides a romantic atmosphere.

Why not check it out next time you’re in Elephant And Castle. You won’t regret it.
