Boxpark – Wembley

Over the last few years there has been a great deal of re-development in Wembley Park, and with that Boxpark Wembley popped up, hosting a range of sought-after street food vendors, offering up a mix of different cuisines to eat from. We headed on over there last week to see what would take our fancy. We arrived at around 3pm, to have a late lunch, when we entered boxpark we were greeted with a bar perfectly placed in the middle, with street food vendors all round the bar along with ample seating.

We did what most people do when they aren’t familiar with the choice of food, we circled around so we could get a good look at what was on offer. The good news is there is a lot on offer, you’ll find Japanese, Mexican, Indian, Caribbean, and then of course tasty looking burgers, and hotdogs!

I had already eaten at Cut and Grind in Kings Cross, so when I saw them at Boxpark, I pretty much knew they were high on my to-eat list. I ordered myself an Aubergine burger. This may not sound like much… but let me tell you now, you would be sadly mistaken if you thought it was just that. The Aubergine was cooked with miso, and a concoction of different sauces to make up a sauce like no other. This burger was juicy, saucy and left me wanting more.

If you’re a fan of buttermilk chicken head on over to Nanny Bills. My friend ordered the buttermilk chicken burger, which she happily tucked into along with her fries.

We ordered a couple of drinks at the bar and before we knew it, it was hitting 6pm, which only means dinner time is around the corner, so we had a wonder over to the Wembley Park market and looked around there before walking back to Boxpark Wembley and ordering more food but this time to takeaway so could have it at home for dinner. This time round we both decided to try the wings from Drums & Flats.

I ordered the sticky BBQ wings and plantain and my friend ordered the Banging buffalo wings, now we were aware they were going to be hot and spicy, due to the name, but no amount of warning could have prepared us for the fire that we breathed out. These guys don’t mess about…. you have been warned, only order the banging buffalo wings, if your taste buds can handle it!

Other stands to look out for include: Boki, TapaVino, WOLF, Gabagools, Oatopia, Bombay Burrito, Hola Guacamole, Zucla, Mama Jacq’s, Smoky Boys, Mitsuryu, Kabab, Spice Shack, Zia Lucia, The Athenian, Ugly Dumpling and Thai Express.

Once you finish off your meal, you can head upstairs to find the new leisure theme bar – PlayBox. Which features a Miami style shuffle board unit, day-glo ping pong, crazy golf, pool and foosball tables.

Boxpark also hosts a variety of events, from comedy nights and live music to TV screenings from some of the most popular sports games.
