Brunch in Battersea’s New Cinnamon Kitchen

Yearning for a new kind of brunch? Yes, so was I. Don’t get me wrong, I love avocados with eggs florentine but sometimes it’s nice to try something different. If you are feeling the same, Cinnamon Kitchen brunch is a great place to feast at.

The foodies amongst us may already be familiar with The Cinnamon Club; famous for its high-end, fine-dining restaurants. The Cinnamon Kitchen concept shares a similar ethos to The Cinnamon Club, bringing innovation and creativity to its cuisine. How the Cinnamon Kitchen restaurants differ is they offer a cooler edge and offer a more relaxing set up.

The newest and third Cinnamon Kitchen is in Circus West Village, the first area of redevelopment within Battersea Power Station. The restaurant itself is huge, with an edgy and industrial décor to match its local surroundings.

The Cinnamon Kitchen’s Brunch menu changes seasonally – featuring power plates which come in different sizes. From filled naans to pancakes and curries, it was also great to see a variety of meat, vegetarian and gluten-free dishes available across our menu, truly offering something for all.

We opted for the Pollock malai curry with rice and vegetable poriyal and Uttapam – a south Indian rice pancake with sambhar lentils. The Pollock was cooked perfectly, offering warm aromatic flavours. One to order again.

For sides, we chose 24 hour cooked black lentils, a dish I can never quite get right at home, and Bombay scrambled eggs. Infused with herbs and spices, these scrambled eggs were amazing, with a lovely texture.

For desert, it was Malpua – small but sweet. Malpuas are fried Indian pancakes. These were fused with spiced honey and accompanied by garam masala ice cream. How garam masala ice-cream hasn’t become more mainstream yet is beyond me. The ice-cream was devoured very quickly. A treat for the taste buds, a winning unique combination.

Taking on the theme, I enjoyed sipping my masala chai. There are also some great juices, and spice infused drink options available, made with exciting ingredients such as turmeric, Himalayan black salt, and a destination bar for nights out inside the restaurant.

Overall – the experience was lovely- a great way to start your day!
