Carluccio’s Nails Veganuary

Authentic Italian restaurant Carluccio’s have nailed Veganuary, with a menu set to make your mouth water. We loved that the food on offer was affordable, tasty and coupled with some amazing wine options.

On seeing the vegan menu I wanted to try everything, the meal options were plentiful. What was surprising is that there was no mushroom dishes, which was a shame, but we didn’t miss it.
For my starter I tried the Gnocchi e Zucca which is a pan fried gnocchi and butternut squash with spinach pesto, served with crispy sage and pumpkin seeds. This dish was delicious, it was full of so much flavour. The butternut squash was just a little overdone, but this didn’t take away from the flavours and the textures.
My main dish was a real treat! I decided to stick with the pasta theme only because I’m not normally a fan of mince alternatives. I tried the Spinaci Tagliatelle Ragu, a spinach tagliatelle with a rich plant-based mince sauce and tomato ragu. My friend had the Seabass which was good, but on tasting my dish she was instantly jealous. Honestly I think it was one of the best meat free Ragu’s that’s I have ever tried.
I couldn’t even fit a dessert in, but there is so much choice on the vegan dessert menu you will not be disappointed.
So if you are looking for a great vegan menu this January, then head down to any of the Carluccio’s. You will not be disappointed.
