Courtesan Relaunches In Brixton

courtA Dim Sum restaurant, tea room, cocktail bar and subterranean late-night entertainment space, yes that really is a thing. Located on Atlantic Road in Brixton, Courtesan relaunches this September after an extensive refurbishment, introducing dramatic re-styled interiors and exteriors, a new food menu, and an all-female produced drinks list. Courtesan will serve innovative cocktails and modern dim sum while transporting guests to a world that combines the exoticism and rituals of ancient china with the legendary clubs of 1920s Shanghai.

In a space inspired by the legendary courtesans of Ancient China, vintage feminine aesthetics are accompanied with neon lights and bright red graphics, jade velvet booths and large silk lanterns, featuring vintage Chinese artefacts throughout. A new and improved menu has been expertly designed by dim sum chef Feng Juan Xue, who’s focus has been to honour the regal origins of Dim Sum while at the same time producing a contemporary and inventive menu that uses modern ingredients from around the globe.

Guests will have the choice of Dim Sum, Noodle Dishes, Rice Dishes, Bao Buns and an ever-changing list of specials, focuses heavily on pure, MSG and preservative-free ingredients, offering extensive vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options. Think King Prawn and Beancurd Cheung Fun, Verdant Mezzelune and Jerk Chicken Parcels in Rice. Whilst the food is out of this world, the drinks are just as amazing, with exotic offerings such as Wang Zhaojun, Violet Liquor, Jasmine Tea and Finlandia Vodka.

Its open seven days a week, from lunch time until the small hours of the morning, with music and entertainment programmed throughout, Courtesan is not one to be missed.
