Getting used to hipster Hackney

So I’ve grown up in Hackney throughout my over 20 years on earth. I never would’ve imagined that this particular borough would eventually be crowned the “most coolest”, “dynamic”, “cultural” and enjoyable places to go out in London.

Businesses like BoxPark based in Shoreditch and restaurants in Brick Lane pride themselves for the fact that they are bordered with Hackney.

Several years agoc, Hackney was deemed the most dangerous place to work and live in London. Now, it’s the ultimate night out! It took me a little while to get my head around it, but the more I socialised in bars in places like Dalston, was when I accepted and embraced my borough; and I enjoy it.

It’s nice not having to travel too far out a distance especially on weekends when London is particularly busy. So it’s such an advantage and makes me cherish living here even more especially when meeting people on nights out that have travelled from the other side of London to socialise in my neighbourhood!

New businesses, bars and restaurants are flourishing throughout Hackney and I haven’t even been to most of them yet!

Below are my top 10 places to eat, drink and socialise in Hackney (no particular order):

1) The Breakfast Club restaurant

2) Brick Lounge bar

3) Exit bar

4) Brick Lane bagels

5) Devran Turkish restaurant

6) The Nest bar/club

7) Peppers & Spice takeaway

8) XOYO bar/club

9) The Corner Shop bar/club

10) Red Art Cafe restaurant

Try all of these (not all at once!) and you shall love it! Hackney is home.
