Hip Hop Drake Brunch Review

Hotline bling hip hop brunch was an experience to say the least. The event was hosted at Proud Embankment which was a pretty cool venue. It started just after 12 and we were shown to our table by our very friendly hostess. We were given glasses at the door and offered one of two free cocktails which were bottomless for the first hour. I have to say we did not enjoy these cocktails and didn’t take advantage of the free boozy period. I know. Crazy right? Free booze, how can you say no. But we did!

Starters were sweet potatoes and red pepper cakes, which tasted nothing like the ingredients in them! The Thai sweet chilli sauce was the best part of the dish (probably because it was bottled). Our next course was a take on jerk chicken and rice and the veggie option a stew. Both were not up to par and one of our group completely skipped the main. The chicken was flavourless and the rice tasted burnt. And the veggie stew tasted predominantly of celery. Dessert was a chocolate brownie, which I thought was basic but my partner scoffed it down. This was such a shame as we’d heard positive things about the food at previous events.

Having said that, the event itself was great fun. The music was banging. The DJ was playing flawless music and the staff were great. Getting the crowd involved and excited. There was a giant cut out of Drake and plenty of Drake masks to have a giggle with along with other props. Some of the guests had gone to great efforts with their outfits and everyone appeared to be having a good time. The atmosphere was perfect for and enjoyable day/night. There were plenty of games and entertainment and good vibes. Personally I would recommend just getting the tickets for just the club event and totally skipping the brunch unless the venue can improve on their food.
