Love yourself – Food subscription

Week 5 of the lockdown and as isolation continues, we grow guilty for the chocolate indulgence and contributing to the national shortage of flour via our home made baked goods.  Add to this our shortening list of ideas for 3 square meals a day we’re ready for someone else to take the helm of the kitchen, and while you’re there, make it healthy God dammit!

Love yourself has entered the subscription based “meals delivered to your door” market, but unlike some of their rivals, their meals are ready made and simply waiting to be heated up or eaten instantly.

Their angle is calorie controlled diet food where you can pick from a range of diets that suit your goals. Vegetarian, pescetarian, halal, there’s a diet plan for everyone. For the health conscious, you can record all of your meals in the app and really keep count of what you are eating.

During the current environment, it’s a great way for the kitchen-shy to eat well and stay safe at home as delivery service is operating as normal.

So the food. We opted for the Keto diet, A day of food that focuses on lower carb and higher protein intake. We were so excited when our parcel arrived we had to refrain from missing the point of “diet” and eating the whole lot at once.

The day’s plan consisted of a creamy pork dish with broccoli rice, yes…rice made from broccoli. Interesting concept but actually quite delicious (we will be trying this one at home so to speak). A turkey salad with egg. Kinda like a nicoise but without green beans or tuna. A minced beef stew,  which resembled bolognaise without the pasta and a snack of cheese cake.

For those wanting to “Love yourselves” by tracking your calories, but eat good tasty food and at the same time have the food delivered directly to your door, Love yourself does just that.
