MAKE SWEET CANDY AT THE SPUN CANDY MASTERCLASS

When we need to treat our sweet tooth we head on over to Spun Candy, not only does it cater to giving us a sugar rush but we can also get creative and choose some funky designed candy.

Spun Candy-1

Last week, we decided to have our very own masterclass with the creative candy makers. As it’s wedding season we opted for making lollipops for a Happy Mr and Mrs.

We headed on over to the Spitafields Spun Candy store where they have their purpose built master class kitchen. When we arrived we were introduced to our expert candy makers, they started off by giving us an introduction into candy making and the science behind making hard-boiled lollipops.

They then went through the stages of making the hot melted sugar, and the art in mixing the chosen colours we wanted for the lollipops. Once it cooled down, we got to roll out the candy (again such an art to it), which we then placed in a heart and circle steel mould.

Once they were set we added a white heart on some and Mr and Mrs on the others, of course we had the option of doing it ourselves, but we thought best leave it to the experts! And what a grand job they did.

We made a big heart lollipop and a few little one, which is perfect for wedding favours.

You can get your hands on Spun candy at either their Covent Garden or Spitafields shop or in Hamleys Toy Store. We certainly felt like kids in a candy store, it was a Great experience.
