Reef, Beef & Bubbles at The Refinery

Ref-RP072

Saturday’s will never be the same again! I could end the review right there and post the link to the most fabulous Saturday eatery and bar in London, but that would be boring.

The Refinery Regent’s place have brought back their Reef, Beef & Bubbles menu on a Saturday from 5pm-10pm, it is the best way to indulge on a lazy Saturday evening for only £19.95, enjoy The Refinery’s own version of the ‘surf & turf’ with half a fresh lobster and a 6oz rump steak with triple cooked chips. That’s not all, you get an ice-cold flute of Prosecco to top it all off.

When we first walked into The Refinery we were in awe with is calm and collected décor, seats adorned with fur shrugs and the stylish bar wall filled with bottles of wine (any wall filled with wine is a good sign of things to come). The staffs were friendly and willing to help navigate my friend and I through the starters menu, if we knew how full we would have become from our reef and beef mains we probably would have taken it easy.

We chose the calamari, which had a beautiful batter with a gentle black pepper spice to it; the squid came accompanied with a lemon mayonnaise that had a tangy taste that was perfect with the crisp saltiness of the calamari. I decided to try the scotch egg with black pudding and piccalilli, I love scotch eggs and the black pudding take added some depth to what would normally be a packed lunch type snack, I totally recommend it. The starter that won our hearts was the prawn lollipops, they came beautifully presented on lollipop sticks and the prawns were tender and juicy covered in a crispy batter, dipped in the sweet chili and soy sauce we were in food heaven.

The main was the star of the night by a long shot. The beef was cooked perfectly and went well with the lobster. The lobster was fresh and tasted divine, there were no complaints from us. Accompanied with the Prosecco it made for a wonderful night and the atmosphere was perfect we felt like we were eating at home and chatted and drank into the later hours. To feel comfortable in a restaurant tops amazing food at times, but The Refinery has the perfect balance of great food and a warm atmosphere.

I highly recommend getting down there before the offer ends in September, its an affordable night which can be enjoyed as a family, with friends or on a special date.
