Stax Diner

Stax Diner

Stax Diner is a new American diner inside Kingly Court, just off Carnaby Street. They are a cool, quirky restaurant and have a wide range of gourmet burgers, and ‘hard milkshakes’.

By ‘hard milkshake’ I mean an alcoholic milkshake, which is the best type of milkshake. I was handed my ‘chocaholic’ milkshake, which was a combination of chocolate, rum, fudge and delicious cream on top. This was fantastic and was an excellent introduction to Stax’s beverage offering. They also serve a range of cocktails, beers, wines and ice cream floats. Ice cream floats is unsurprisingly ice cream floating inside an alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink. This sounds like a child’s idea of heaven, but I didn’t have the courage to go for this.

Stax is mainly a burger joint and they have a range of huge burgers to choose from. I went for “The Big Stax”, which certainly wasn’t small. This involved a burger with Spicy Comeback Sauce, Maple Glazed Beef Bacon, Caramelised Onions and a choice of cheese. I went for mature cheddar and a side order of fries. All of this combined to give a great taste and by the end of it I felt very full.

My friend went for “The Blues Burger”, which included caramelised onions and stilton. Stilton is an acquired taste, but if you like it, I’m sure you’ll love this burger. I was told it was delicious.

The waiting staff were extremely friendly, attentive and smiley, which is a splendid combination of attributes for a waitress. The atmosphere is very relaxed and fun. We sat outside on their stools and soaked up the atmosphere inside Kingly Court. Kingly Court is an inside area of cool bars, restaurants and shops. Stax Diner fits in perfectly here and it is a great location, just off Regent Street and a minute from Oxford Circus.

These are high-end and very large burgers, so expect to pay between £7.85- £10.95. A range of tasty sides are available from £2.95.

I would definitely eat here again, when I’m in the mood for a huge burger and a hard milkshake. I also hear that they are starting to do takeaways, so it’s the perfect gluttonous treat for an office lunch. I’d recommend a napkin or two.
