Treating Dry Eyes

Summer is here and whilst the long sunny days and balmy evenings are welcomed with open arms, the season also comes with its own unique stressors on the eyes.

Dry, sore, or tired eyes are not uncommon during the summer months. Heatwaves can lead to dehydration which means there is less water available in the body to produce tears. Air conditioning, fans and air vents at home, in the office and in the car are an assault on the eyes and can exacerbatesymptoms of dry eye. Air conditioning in particular removes moisture from the air and eyes need a certain amount of moisture to produce tears. Swimming in pools, lakes or the sea exposes the eyes to unique contaminants and pathogens. The muggy nights can disrupt sleep and a lack of sleep can lead to gritty, uncomfortable eyes.

With hay-fever the worst it’s been this year. I found these drops really helped my eyes. They’ve become a staple in my hand bag for sure! But what else can you do to reduce or relieve summer dry eye? Well the brand has you covered with these top tips:

Avoid sitting directly in front of or under air conditioning units, fans or air vents

Wear sunglasses to protect eyes from the sun and wind, both of which cause tears to evaporate

Stay hydrated!

Wear goggles when swimming
