Cocotte Review

Chicken lovers rejoice! French restaurant, Cocotte serves up a mean rotisserie, the healthy way! The the 24-hour marinated chicken can be ordered with mouth-watering salads or indulgent dishes.

The chicken is basted for 24 hours in a secret marinade, before being cooked and then roasted on a hot spit. They have a open kitchen by the entrance, where you can have a peek at the chefs working their magic.

Prices here wont break the bank. £8 for a quarter and £13 for a half. We ordered the half chicken, coupled with truffle mac and cheese, rooted vegetables and a Nathalie salad. The roast chicken is served on a small wooden board, served with five homemade sauces and gravy. The presentation was impressive and the chicken tasted divine, I loaded mine with the gravy, giving it some more juice.

The truffle mac and cheese was a delight, and we could easily see why this was one of the most popular sides. It was a melt in your mouth dish. The rooted vegetables was also a winning side, it was just a little shame we didn’t order more! The salad was nice, but it was overpowered with kale, I would have probably liked to have less kale and more zing in the salad.

For dessert we went for the chocolate and hazelnut cake, with its soft biscuit base and buttery chocolate on top, one bite into this creamy dessert and I was in heaven. One of the best desserts I’ve had in a while.

My guest had the coconut cake, a more healthier option, but just as delicious. We were well looked after by the manager Eddy on the day, he was warm, welcoming and passionate about the food. Top notch service, we couldn’t have asked for more. The food at Cocotte is a real treat and no doubt we will be back for more!
