Heads + Tails Review

A few weeks ago  we previewed some of the upcoming drinks in the new Winter Drinks menu at Heads + Tails in West Hampstead. Then on (Wednesday 13th) we were able to sample four of the cocktails.
An enjoyable cocktail was ‘Like a Verjus’. This is a twist on the classic vodka and soda as it’s made with passion fruit infused Belvedere, verjus (acidic justice) sugar syrup and soda. This was a light,, sweet and refreshing sweet cocktail. It’s perfect to start any night with.
We loved ‘Diary Girls’ comprising Havana Especial rum, Bold London spirit, early grey milk punch with vanilla and cardamom. The Bold London spirit created a smooth, slightly bitter taste whilst the vanilla and cardamom reminded us of flavoured teas which we loved. It was deliciously easy drinking. We could definitely have had more if these and would recommend them.
Our least favourite cocktail of the four samples was ‘Cerulean Crystal’. This was surprising as the main ingredient is Beefeater gin, and as readers will know, we love our gin here at ONIN London. The other ingredients are: Briottet creme D’abricot (apricot liqueur) Dolin Blanc Vermouth and violet liqueur. Together they created a displeasing taste for our palette. ‘Russeliana’ featured Wild Turkey 101, sage infused tio Pepe (Sherry), agave syrup, sour cherry liqueur and Mezcal mist. Given the sour cherry, it was quite a sour drink, that left a lingering finish.
There are numerous other drinks available on both the Heads and Tails menus. The new Winter Drinks menu will run through both autumn and winter so you have plenty of time to work your way through them all.
We were excited to check out the Tail section of Heads and Tails. Located in the lower ground floor, Tails is a cozy, atmospheric space with more earthy tones and plush seating. In contrast, Heads is lighter with higher ceilings, glass windows and cooling colours. Both places are great for social get together.
Taking its lead from the styles of the bars, the drinks menu serves lighter refreshing drinks like cocktails, gins, wines and Aperitivo while Tails serves warmer and bolder spirits like rum and whiskies. All drinks can be ordered in either bar.
Overall we had a relaxed evening in the stairs bar whilst enjoying some great cocktails. We definitely recommend checking our Heads + Tails.
