Merlet et Fils at the Soho Grind

You’ve definitely heard of Shoreditch Grind if you are a Londoner, you’ve also probably heard of Soho Grind; drinkeries (yep, I made that up) that pride themselves on the fact that they not only serve great coffee, but provide every visitor with a really chilled, hip and cool atmosphere.

Merlet et Fils and Soho Grind joined forces on a casual but classy Wednesday evening to present The Launch of Espresso Martini Month. I know. Espresso; in a martini!

I’ve never had an expresso, let alone mixed in the form an alcoholic cocktail. As I’ve probably mentioned in previous reviews, I thrive off sweet and scrumptious tasting cocktails – I can’t do sour drinks! And that’s exactly what I requested, the sweetest martini mixed with expresso.

The expresso martinis did not tickle my fancy at all, not to imply that they were horrible – they just weren’t for me. The event holders of the night were majorly helpful and provided us with tons of history of this unique drink discovered centuries ago.

There’s so much history in a liquor and it’s quite enriching having realising that drinks consumed centuries ago still play huge significance in the drinking world of today.

The atmosphere was intimate and the visitors were very friendly and bubbly – what a pleasant way to spend a Wednesday evening.
