The Kensington House Hotel Review

Kensington House Hotel_LowRes-2

The Kensington House Hotel is superbly located just an eight minute walk from Kensington high street and only a five minute walk from the beautiful Kensington Gardens. It has forty one rooms, so not a big lavish hotel. It’s an intimate boutique hotel. ideal for people who like to stay somewhere which feels like home from home. It has a nice homely feel to it and I received first class service from the moment I walked into reception.

I got a nice warm welcome from the manager Antonio, who was at reception at the time, he was friendly and I felt like I was in good hands within five minutes of being in the room. Once I checked in, I was shown to my room. The room had a modern feel to it, it was nice and airy with big windows, allowing a lot of nice natural light to fill the room. Some rooms have balconies, which you can request when booking a room.

There are tea making facilities in the room, so of course the first thing I did was put the kettle on, once I made a cuppa, I tried out the bed and yep a big tick for how comfy the mattress was. Which is a big thing for me, it doesn’t matter how swanky a hotel room looks, if it has one of those fancy hard mattresses, I’m not a happy bunny, after all, having a good nights kip is what makes a good experience.

There is a bar, which I popped into, to have a drink while I did some work on my laptop, yep sadly for me work follows me everywhere. The vibe was very relaxing and I felt comfortable, the service was very good, with very attentive staff.

In the morning I opted for breakfast in bed, I thought it would be nice to have a lazy morning, and not rush outside for breakfast. I went for a continental, which came with freshly squeezed juice, fruit, granola, croissants, toast, jam, marmalade and a good cup of tea (yep I pack in quite a lot in the mornings).

When looking for hotels to stay in, location and comfort is high on the agenda, the location is perfect, like I mentioned above it’s an 8 minute walk to the high street, so you can get your shopping fix and it’s a 5 minute walk to Kensington Gardens. If you happen to go on a warm day, I recommend you getting some food from Whole Foods on the high street and going to the park to eat your lunch, theres no greater feeling knowing you are only a short walk back to your hotel. If you are watching any shows at The Royal Albert Hall, you would be happy to know it’s only a 10 minute walk and Knightsbridge is only a bus ride away, if you fancy shopping in Harvey Nics or the very luxurious Harrods!

Other local attractions include: Kensington Palace, the Science and Natural History museums, Victoria & Albert museum and Hyde Park.

They currently have a Spring and Summer break offer, with rooms starting at £99, for more details click here
