All Star Lanes and Gourmet Cinema Club teamed up to provide a sizzling summer special of fun. This first season of a pop-up cinema and bowling event will commence in August. For £30 you will get a game of ten pin bowling, a film, tasty canapés, one welcome drink and an edible ticket.
Onin.London were invited to the preview of these events on 24th July at the Shepherd’s Bush location. We were shown to a private room featuring two bowling lanes, a bar, booths and chairs and tables arranged around a screen.
We loved our game of bowling including watching the animations on the screen after our hits and (many) misses. Our only complaint is that it goes so fast when there are only two players as we would have loved more time on the lanes to show off our superb bowling skills (Yes, we actually got a strike!).
The film, The Big Lebowski, was unfortunately not to our tastes although it’s a classic. The volume was extremely loud and perhaps needs to be turned down a fraction. To go to the bathrooms you needed to walk past people watching the screen.
At each event one cocktail will feature. Given The Big Lebowski is all about ‘The Dude’, the cocktail name of ‘Breakfast of the Dude’ was fitting. Essentially this is a White Russian with a twist. It is comprised of frangelico liqueur, Patron Silver tequila, grenadine, milk and double cream topped with fruit loops. An interesting mixture to say the least but it didn’t hit the spot with myself or my friend.
Food was provided by Gourmet Cinema Club. There were mini chicken burgers, taco cones, potato gems and crab balls to name a few. We especially loved the pork belly and definitely went back for more.
Overall, we loved the bowling and food, and if you like the upcoming movies then we’d definitely recommend these events. Bowling (and a movie) is a perfect activity to enjoy with work colleagues, friends and family.
