We all saw Grace Jones doing her thing with a hula hoop last year whilst performing… Right? Well we have had the pleasure of speaking to a hula hoop genius! She is the one and only Marawa Amazing!! Yes she is as amazing as her name, with abs as “hard as diamonds” and a great store we found out more about her Hoopermarket.

We love the fact that you are a hooping queen, tell us what made you start this business and why?
I have been a circus performer for years – But I also love teaching! It just sort of seemed to make sense to put it all together,
I really love teaching kids and people that are struggling to lose weight – hooping is perfect as it doesn’t impact your knees etc,
but is still a great cardio workout!
How long have you been hula hoop obsessed and who taught you?
Arturo Gomez! A circus performer from Argentina who now works at the National Institute of Circus Arts in Australia
We see that you are involved in community projects, can you tell us about a few?
Lots of projects in East London – we are working to get Djibouit Hoops into schools at the moment
Who is your biggest inspiration? and why?
I really Love Buddy Lee a motivation speaker and Jump Rope champion in the US
Is hula hooping good for fitness and strengthening the core?
YES YES OF COURSE !! It’s the best!! If you can learn how to hoop with your core you will have abs harder than diamonds!
Please give us some getting fit with a hoop tips?
Make sure you hoop with an adult size hoop (hoopermarket.com) and in both directions with your hips balanced – that way you have to use your core!
What do you want our readers to know about you and what you do?
For the next few weeks we have a pop up shop at 378 Kingsland rd, it’s a great place to come and try out hooping!
