La Tagliata

La Tagliata

Tucked away down a side street on Liverpool Street is the quaintest and newest Italian around; La Tagliata. On entry to the restaurant I was first struck by it’s stillness. It was lovely stepping off of busy Liverpool street into a calm beautiful restaurant.

Let me tell you about the decor. It’s been decorated to feel like an authentic Italian home, with the drawing room, library and music room. I chose to eat in the beautifully decorated Library, surrounded by light and old first addition books made me feel all sophisticated.

What was better was the menu. La Tagliata have kept it simple with a minimalist menu that is easy to choose from and value for money. For my starter I had the lemon Le Tagliatelle; fresh home made pasta in a lemon sauce. What was even better is that it had no dairy in it but had a beautiful creamy taste. I would never have thought lemon would taste so beautiful in a dish, it made the dish refreshing and gave it a very unexpected twist.

La Tagliata
The main was their signature dish the La Tagliata.  Which is the finest British sirloin beef sliced in the Italian way on a bed of rocket with Parmesan, tomatoes and a balsamic reduction. I had mine with Shepherd potatoes which is lightly season mashed potato. The meal was as beautiful as the description. The beef was perfectly cooked; it melted in the mouth, and when teamed with the combination of the rocket with the potatoes was gorgeous. This meal portion was perfect for both lunch and dinner and a great way to entertain business clients.

For desserts I tried both the pannacota and the tirimasu. Authentic is the word for both these dishes. I was in love with every bite.

I think that La Tagliata is what Liverpool street needs now! The owners are passionate about both their food and customers. It is the perfect environment for meetings or that evening date. Each room offers it’s own small pockets of privacy and we highly recommend it.

To conclude, the price of a 2 course meal is a little as £24 and my choice the 3 course is £29. A bargain especially for the beautiful food that is produced.
